ABOUT US
Knighton Park Amateur Operatic Society (aka KPAOS, or 'Kapow' to some), performs at theatre venues around Leicestershire.
From Calamity Jane – the groups very first show back in 1979 – all the way through to Nativity! 2018, KPAOS is renowned in Leicester as one of the largest amateur musical theatre production companies.
We’ve had the privilege of taking to the stage at Curve, Haymarket Theatre, and The Little Theatre showcasing big budget shows and the best local talent. Attracting audiences from across the Midlands with popular classics and exciting modern productions, the society has become an acclaimed one known for successfully taking on challenging shows. To pull off such high profile performances, we work with esteemed creative teams, stage crews, orchestras, directors, musical directors and choreographers.
With this reputation behind us, many talented individuals are eager to join us at our new members auditions each year. As an inclusive and encouraging group, many of our members return year after year to take part in our shows with some even roping in friends and family members who have discovered new talents either back stage, front of house, or on stage themselves.

The year 2019 brought about big changes for the society, which used to be known as the Knighton Park Players. Celebrating 40 years of performance, KPAOS welcomed five new committee members as well as the appointment of Chairperson to longstanding committee memberJade Afflick-Goodall.
President of the society and BBC Radio Leicester presenter Dave Andrews is a prominent figure in the amateur Leicester theatre scene often dedicating time on his popular radio shows to interview our cast and directors.
KPAOS is proud to have helped some great causes over the years raising money for Rainbows, Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre, Children in Need, Heartlink, Pancreatic Cancer UK, and many more. Funds are raised throughout the year with social events, parties, race nights, dinners, and quizzes.
We perform our shows in November each year at The Little Theatre. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more information on our current and upcoming shows.
